More Sketchbook Pages 2
Here are just some of the experiments that I have created using this Accordion fold / multiple pathways idea. I really like some of these ideas that I have created here but my sketchbook is looking a bit jumpy as I have still not choose an I idea and began developing it further. I feel I really need to start thinking about my PLP and what I am trying to create and what I want my viewers to feel when they look at my book.

LA Photos
When I travelled to Los Angeles, my main focus was on the many signs and how sometimes they can create confusion. when looking back at my photos I came across these three which I felt best describes how I am feeling about my life right now. These signs got me thinking about how I feel bout my life right now, where I began reflecting on my past decisions, any regrets and my future.
I feel my next steps for this project is to begin playing around with my photos where I am going to manipulate and fold them to create a more interesting version of this maze idea. I feel it is also time for me to start experiment with illustration and creating something that visually communicates the story of my life.

Large Maze Book Sculptures
Again I have came back to looking at mazes. I love the concept behind it where there are multiple pathways and a lot of confusion and I think it could be really useful if I try and represent this idea through my book making.
Mazes normally have a centre its like a goal that we are working towards and from this idea I want to show the many choices and decisions that we all have to make before we reach this goal.
Here I used an A1 sheet of paper to create this experiment. I feel this has worked out better than I had expected and the camera has managed to capture this maze effect really well. You begin to see the multiple pathways appearing and I feel this might be something that I take further to develop as a final piece.
I feel the next steps for this is to go back to my LA photos and begin experimenting with them on a large scale like this. Also I need to begin drawing and see if I can create something visually interesting that might go on to the pages of this book.

Life's Journey
Here I was looking at my life and what I wanted to focus most on was the many different choices and decisions that I have to make everyday. When researching into our journey I found this photo that visually showed the multiple choices and decisions that we all have. What I like most about this photo is that it shows our life as being a maze and I really like this idea as mazes are full of dead ends which could possibly represent all the wrong decisions that we sometimes make before we get to where we want.
I feel my next steps for this piece is to experiment with scale looking at creating this piece bigger or even smaller. I also plan to start using my photos from Los Angeles as I feel this would make the piece more personal and also much more interesting.

Small Maze Sculptures
I was really happy with what I had created here as I didn't expect it to turn out so well. As you can see this book sculpture has really adopted this confusing theme as straight away when you look at it you immediately don't know where to start.
As you can see here it is amazing how one sheet of paper can be manipulated and transformed into something that has a lot of meaning behind it. My next steps for this piece is to experiment with size and also looking at mixing my LA photos with drawing.

Book Ideas
For my confused book idea I wanted to look at mazes. I like how mazes are all about confusion where you have to make choices and decisions to travel through it. what I like most about this idea is that when everyone travels through a maze, each person experience's a different journey and I want this to happen with my book.
Here are just some of the ideas that I am thinking about. I really like how some of these idea are looking and I feel my next step is to start folding paper and see if these ideas work out.

Foldout Book
Here I was wanting to create a book that from the outside it just looks like a normal traditional book where you are expecting to open it and have lots of pages to look through. Instead I have put in one large foldout page. I do not yet know how I can take this idea further. I have thought about looking at experimenting more with maps and my photos from LA.
I really enjoyed creating this book as I found this to be an easy process and simple book to create.

Life's Journey
This is exactly what I want to create for my final piece, a book that shows this life's journey but also emphasises the many choices and decisions that we all have to think about. I feel this maze allows us to visually see the multiple pathways that we all can take.

My Book Idea 1
This is a page taken out of my sketchbook here I was just experimenting with spare bits of paper and I was thinking that if I am wanting to make a book about confusion then the book doesn't really need any meaning. It can be created randomly as I want it to make no sense as it is there to make you confused. I really like this idea and I feel I should look into more directional art to maybe develop this idea further.
Presentation Feedback
Delivery : You seemed a bit nervous and your commentary was rather stilted and rambling as a result. It is perhaps better that you don’t read from notes. Also, choosing the Pecha Kucha format should help you focus.
Content : The slides were well-chosen and logically ordered and I was impressed that you provided some contemporary examples. More critical theory is needed and I also feel you should address the mythology of hair colour: ‘dumb blondes’, ‘fiery redheads’ etc.
DS
I was really happy with my feedback and was really impressed on how quickly I received this. The first pointers that I really need to work on is my delivery. I know myself that I am not really comfortable talking in front of people but I feel the only way that I can improve on this is to rehearse in front of people to build up my confidence.
Choosing the Pecha Kucha style presentation will be helpful as in this type of presentation I have 20 slides each on a timer for 20 seconds. This will help me to stop rambling as I will have limit to what I can say in each slide.
Content - I was glad that David was happy with my power point skills and also some of the work that I had shown. I only showed one example of how 'colour changes everything' That's why he has suggested looking at the Mythology of hair colour. I feel this could work really well within my presentation as it begins to look at how colour can change peoples view of other peoples appearance.

Practice Presentation
For my presentation I have decided to look at how colour changes everything. What I really wanted to focus on throughout the presentation was examples of how colour changes everything and why colour changes everything.
This was only my practice presentation and I fee my first attempt went really well and hopefully my feedback will be able to give me some good pointes of how I can improve my slides and my presentation skills.
Colour is an unusual factor that people don’t really
consider in their daily lives. There is
more to colour than red, green and blue as it has the power to persuade, it can
affect/inflict emotions, it can be a form of identity and even change a person’s
appearance.
An example of this is associating gender with a colour
mainly in younger children. In the
beginning children’s gender was not really considered important as in the 1800s
and early 1900’s children were dressed up in white neutral colours until the
age of 6.
This is a competition that showed up in the early 1900's for Mellin's Food Babies and they asked people if they can name the gender of all 20 images. This was really successful in my opinion as no one was able to guess all 20 right which shows clearly that gender was not really considered important.
Pink and blue arrived as colours for babies in the mid-19th century. Today boys and girls dressing the same is frowned upon as babies today are gendered, named and even clothed with the appropriate colours even before they are even born. Babies are only seen as neutral in the first few weeks of a woman’s pregnancy before gender is found out.
What if it was the other way round and pink was for boys and
blue for girls. The reason is that pink
being a more decided and stronger colour, is more suitable for the boy, while
blue which is more delicate and prettier for girls.
Blue for blonds & pink for brunettes
Blue for blue eyes & pink for brown eyes.
Gender marketing is where companies are using colour to aim certain products to certain children, Blue for boys and pink for girls. You can see in this image how much it has grown today.

Draft Personal Learning Plan Studio Practice 2
This is the first draft of my PLP. This has been quite difficult to create as this is the first time that I have had the chance to create my own brief. At first I thought it would be quite easy but I had a lot of trouble trying to think of something to do. Below is my fist draft and when you look through it you can see it is quite rough and vague but hopefully the feed back from the tutors will help clarify things and help me develop my project.
